The New Commons Challenge 2025 supports organizations in developing data commons that enhance generative AI applications for public good. The challenge fosters responsible AI innovation to address real-world problems in localized decision-making and disaster response.
✅ Eligibility Criteria
- Applicants must be affiliated with an established organization.
- Government entities are not eligible to participate.
- For-profit entities will undergo additional review to ensure public interest alignment.
- Applications must be submitted in English.

📝 How to Apply

Phase One: Prepare a concept note (no more than three pages) outlining:
- The opportunity.
- The data you have access to.
- How that data would be commonly governed.
- The overall relevance to the Challenge focus.
- Submit the concept note by June 2, 2025, at 11:59 PM PT.
- Phase Two: Selected applicants will be invited to submit a full proposal by June 16, 2025.
- Full proposals must be submitted by July 14, 2025, at 11:59 PM PT.
- Proposals should provide a detailed description of the innovation, its feasibility, impact, and the delivery team.
