Active researchers at any career stage with at least one year of graduate-level research experience or equivalent. Any nationality may apply, but the home institution must be in an EMBC member state or partner country (Chile, India, Singapore or Taiwan), or the researcher must hold funding from a JST programme specifically listed by EMBO. The visit is normally to a laboratory in an eligible member or partner country; other destinations require exceptional scientific justification. Exchanges within the same country are ineligible. Visits to former supervisors, former colleagues, previously visited laboratories, or current or past collaborators are excluded, as are courses, workshops and symposia. You must return to the home laboratory immediately after the visit and remain there for at least six consecutive months, with the required signed confirmation. Check EMBO’s full eligibility page for the member-country and JST programme lists.
