Opportunity overview
The BORS–BJR Travelling Fellowship supports early- and mid-career orthopaedic and musculoskeletal researchers through European research-centre visits in September 2027, ending at the EORS annual meeting. The multidisciplinary cohort will share research, explore facilities and build international collaborations. Applicants must have a UK academic or clinical research connection and qualifying BORS membership. Funding contributes towards travel, accommodation and subsistence; EORS registration is waived.
Who can apply
UK academic/clinical research institution required; exchange visits in Europe. Qualifying BORS membership is mandatory.
Early- or mid-career clinicians, engineers, biologists and other orthopaedic or musculoskeletal researchers must have been BORS members in good standing since at least 1 August 2026. A PhD, equivalent research training or equivalent research experience is required, together with a strong track record appropriate to career stage, a body of research suitable for presentation, current significant research at a UK-based academic or clinical institution, and previous engagement with BORS and the wider research community. Applicants need institutional/line-manager support and availability for the full September 2027 programme, including EORS. Assessment accounts for discipline, opportunity and relevant career circumstances; prior BJR publication is not required. Selected fellows must retain membership, participate fully, present research, help develop the itinerary, manage logistics within the agreed budget, represent BORS/BJR, report their experience at a later BORS meeting, contribute to BJR and disseminate the exchange.
